Overview
Hop on this weekend trip to the tiniest town in Bulgaria – Melnik and enjoy the climate and architectural ensemble, hike towards one of major monasteries – Rozhen, dive deep into Rupite – the mythical home of Baba Vanga, explore the antique Heraclea Sintica and taste the finest wines in the region in just a couple of days.
With less than 300 inhabitants and hiding some 250+ year old stone houses, paved streets and nice local restaurants, Melnik will surely be a place to remember!
Our weekend program includes private transportation from/to Sofia, accommodation in a local guest house, winetasting in a local winery, entrance to a historical site and guide service.

Program
Day 1
Departure to Melnik from a centrally located spot in Sofia.
(On the way, we will stop for a refreshment.)
Arrival in Melnik and a nice walk in the heart of the small town including a visit to a 2+ century old house. Free time for lunch in a local restaurant.
Afternoon hike towards the Rozhen Monastery – one of the three major monasteries in Bulgaria, located in a wonderful area. On the way we’ll have some magnificent views over the stone pyramids.
Free time for dinner at the local restaurant (mehana) and tasting some well-cooked dishes.
Day 2
Time for breakfast.
Check-out and drive towards Rupite complex – a mystique place where the Famous Baba Vanga lived and did many predictions. After visiting the park we will head to the hottest archeological finds – the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica dating IV century BC.
Departure from Rupite area and a lovely detour to a local family winery to get deep into the grapes and vines in the region and taste some of the finest local wines.
Late afternoon departure back to Sofia.
