Overview
Join this 8-day adventure rich in places, flavors and stories of Bulgaria – starting from the vibrant Capital – Sofia and going through the major and top-rated spots like The Seven Rila Lakes, Unesco listed Rila Monastery, the oldest town in Europe – Plovdiv, the ancient Thracian region of Kazanlak, the old capital Veliko Tarnovo, the sea capital – Varna, the ambient old town of Nessebar and more.
Bulgaria has a whole lot to offer due to its rich history and wonderful nature and we are passionate to show you around.
Our round trip program includes private transportation from/to Sofia, accommodation in local guest houses, entrance fees and guide service.

Program
Day 1 – City tour of Sofia
Arrival at Sofia airport and transfer to your accommodation.
After some refreshments we hop on a walking tour of the vibrant capital of Bulgaria – Sofia.
Overnight in Sofia.

Day 2 – Hike to the 7 Rila Lakes & Rila Monastery
Early in the morning we start our trip towards one of Bulgaria’s finest natural attractions – The 7 Rila Lakes. There, we’ll enjoy the wonderful views of Rila Mountain and feel the energy and spirituality of the place.
In the afternoon, when we finish the hike we will drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site – Rila Monastery to dive in a 10+ centuries history.
Overnight in Sofia.

Day 3 – Plovdiv, Assen’s Fortress and Bachkovo Monastery
We continue our journey towards Plovdiv – the oldest city in Europe, a crossroad for Ancient Thracians, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires and nowadays a lively cultural, economical and tourist center.
During the day, we’ll visit Assen’s Fortress – an ancient garrison along the road between empires, and one of the three major monasteries in Bulgaria – Bachkovo.
Overnight in Plovdiv.

Day 4 – Wine Tasting and Spa at Starosel Complex
This day is dedicated to exploring the local wines and Thracian habits in an area with more than 340 tombs and tumuli of Thracian royalties.
Later on we’ll enjoy some nice spa with natural mineral water.
Overnight in either Starosel or Hissar.

Day 5 – The Rose Valley of Kazanlak, Shipka Monument and Veliko Tarnovo
We’ll cross Bulgaria’s Old Mountain (Stara Planina) from south to north with stops in:
– Kazanlak in the Rose Valley to get to know the technology and rituals of rose picking and rose oil manufacturing.
– The Shipka Monument – a place where battles were held and a place where you can stun your camera with 360 degree views!
– Veliko Tarnovo – the former capital of Bulgaria and the former residency of many kings from the II-nd Bulgarian Kingdom.
Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.

Day 6 – The Madara Horseman, Pobiti Kamani and The Sea Capital – Varna
From Veliko Tarnovo we head east and on the way to the Black Sea Cost, we will explore another UNESCO World Heritage site – The Madara Rider and the natural wonder of Pobiti Kamani.
On arrival, we’ll make an evening walking tour of the “Sea Capital” of Bulgaria – Varna.
Overnight in Varna.

Day 7 – The Old Town of Nessebar and Burgas
On this day we go down south, towards Burgas with a nice detour to The Old town of Nessebar where we’ll dive into the secrets and stories of this tiny place firstly inhabited 3200+ years ago.
Finally, we’ll stroll in the fast-growing and lively city of Burgas where we’ll enjoy the local views and places as a last stop of our multi-day program.

Day 8 – Free time to dip in the Black sea and transfer back to Sofia.
On the last day of the program, depending on the season and sea water temperature, we can jump for a swim before heading back to Sofia.
