Overview

Take this trip to Plovdiv – the oldest constantly inhabited city in Europe. A charming town that lives vibrantly since ages (XI millenia B.C.). A European Capital of Culture for 2019 and a host of many concerts, festivals and events all year round. A mixture of landmarks from different eras (Thracian, Roman, Hellenic, Byzantine, Ottoman … )

Climb the Asen’s fortress and soak in the atmosphere of the XIV century church of Holy Mother of God which survived the ages.
Enter the 2-nd major Monastery in Bulgaria and one of the oldest in the Balkans – the Bachkovo Monastery.

Our day program includes private transportation from/to Sofia, guided walking tour in Plovdiv and Bachkovo Monastey + entrance to the Asen’s Fortress.

Program

Day 1

Departure to Plovdiv from a centrally located spot in Sofia.
(On the way, we will stop for a refreshment.)

Arrival and a walking tour including the major attractions – The Old town, Nebet Tepe, the Roman stadium, the Amphitheatre, the Forum, Djumaya Mosque and more.

Free time for lunch in a local restaurant.

In the afternoon – visit of the Asen’s fortress and Bachkovo Monastery

Back to Sofia in the late afternoon / early evening.
